Gosh, it's been a while since my last post. I guess I wanted to wait until I had something really special and important to talk about.
I'd like to introduce everyone to my Brother Danny Joe and his son, Robert. Danny & I haven't seen each other in 12 years, that was at the funeral service of our Dad, Aca Ray Day. I guess through the years you just kind of lose touch.
Last Summer Danny Joe sent me an email with a subject line of Blast from your past. Of course, I was so intrigued by the title, I had to open it. I am so glad I did. That's how Danny & I "re-connected" after the 12 long years apart. We can't get back the 12 years we lost, but we just can try to make up for it.
Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1pm we were to meet in Terrell, Texas for lunch. As that day approached I began to nervous about our meeting. The morning of the meeting, Oh My Gosh, I was really nervous. All these memories started to past through my mind. What a wonderful way to pass the drive. As time drew near to 1pm. I sat in the parking lot, watching for the gold vehicle they were arriving in. Never noticed gold vehicles until that day! Do you realize how many gold vehicles are on the roads these days? Let's just say ALOT!! ha!! I saw them pull into the parking lot. My heart skipped a beat and my stomach turned a couple of flips. Danny & I hugged as if we never wanted to let go. Of course I cried like a baby. I was so relieved to see him, to touch him and to hold him. It was a long 12 years.
Robert, who is pictured above with Danny, is the son of Danny Joe & Cindy Day. Like Bekah, he shows his Christian beliefs through everything he does. He is very smart and he looks so much like his Father. (I did tell him I wouldn't hold that against him though! ha!) Robert will be a Senior this Fall. Just can't beleive it. He's going to College, he just doesn't know what he wants to be yet. But, I do know, whatever he does in life Christ will be the center of his life and he will excell in whatever he does.

I then met Bekah. Danny & Cindy's beautiful daughter. Last time I saw her she was 6 years old! She's now 18 and is a beautiful young Christian Woman. What a breathe of fresh air to be in the presence of her smile and wisdom. Bekah & I hit it off! Just look at her smile. It just puts joy in my heart! Bekah is in from College. She is going to be a Teacher like her Mom and I know she will be awesome. She's also leaving soon on a Mission Trip. She doesn't have much free time, but that doesn't matter to her. She's giving back to those in need. She's teaching others about Christ. What a blessing!!!
Cindy! Cindy hasn't changed in the 12 years we have been apart. She's still a beautiful Woman who has helped to raise 2 awesome kids. She is a teacher at a Christian School and I know she's just awesome in what she does. Cindy & I got caught up on life and let's just say she can make you laugh when you least expect it. She's such a joy and I am so glad to call her Sister!
My Brother Danny Joe! What memories I have of this wonderful Man growing up. He took us to movies, took us trick or treating with Ghost Stories and flying kites. The kites flew so high you could barely see the dot in the sky. Fishing, yep, he did that too. Nothing was more awesome than the time our sister Pam was reeling in a big catfish and her pole broke. We were using cane pole's and Danny Joe, well the new thing was the rod & reel. After the fish broke Pam's pole we continued to fish and wouldn't you know it? All of a sudden we saw the 1/2 of the pole float to the top. Big brother to the rescue...he worked the rod & reel like a pro and not only did he get the broken pole, he also caught the fish Pam had tried to catch. There's 1,000's of stories like this with Danny Joe and they all have a special place in my heart. However, the most touching story came Sunday Night. I, along with my 2 sisters, attended a ceremony at my brother Ronnie's Church. He was becoming a Deacon that night. As Ronnie was giving his testimonial he told the story of how he had become a Christian. He said that one day his Step-Brother talked to him about Christ and asked if he knew Christ and had he ever been saved. That was the time, Ronnie became a Christian. It was Danny Joe who planted that seed of Christ in Ronnie's heart. We all sat there crying as Ronnie told his humble beginnings with Christ. It's moments like that you never forget and it's Brother's like Danny Joe who have helped to make those moments. Danny Joe even told us one Christmas of how Santa came in while he was sleeping and he got up to help him and talk to him. He told us of how he sat at the kitchen table and had cookies and milk with Santa. I was so proud!! My brother actually sat, ate and talked with Santa!! It was more than any child could take!! ha!
Danny Joe, thank you for all you have done for all of us kids growing up. I remember getting so excited when I would find out my Brother was coming in for a visit from the service. We all knew there was going to be fun!! Thank you for all the memories we share as brothers & sisters. Thank you for all the blessing you have provided for in our lives. Thank you for caring so much about 3 little country kids and their Mom. You were so gracious to Mom and to us and that is something that I will never ever forget!!!
I have my brother back and I am so so very proud!!!
Hey, have I told you I love you??? Well, I do!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, you look so much like Daddy. I just hope you didn't learn "his way" of cooking! ha!!
